DAY 29 (TABLE SELECTION)

Today I did not get a chance to play due to travel plans. A comment was made about table selection in yesterdays post so I thought I would elaborate further on the processes I use to select tables.

Here were the questions asked:

1. Do you data mine with IdleMiner? Does your pokertracker database grow abnormally huge?
2. What do you look for when selecting a table? 1 donk with a 40+VIP and PF raise of less than 7ish?? Do you try to sit to his left or anywhere?
3. Do you use PokerAce HUD? How smoothly does it work 4 tabling?

1. TO ME A BIG DATA BASE IS THE START TO VERY GOOD TABLE SELECTION. I USE IDLEMINER ALMOST EVERYDAY AND LET IT RUN ALL DAY. I TRACK ANYWHERE FROM 20K TO 35K HANDS A DAY AT THE LEVEL I AM PLAYING. MY POKERTRACKER DATA BASE HAS 8 MILLION OR SO HANDS TRACKED SO YES THE DATA DOES GET BIG. THIS IS A GOOD THING AS YOU CAN COMPACT THE DATA BASE IN POKERTRACKER.

2. WHEN SELECTING TABLES I USE A PROGRAM CALLED SIXTH SENSE. I HAVE SET UP VERY STRICT CRITERIA FOR FINDING THE WEAK TABLES. I HAVE MY FILTER SET TO FIND TABLES WITH AVG VPIP > 30%, PFR < 10%, AND CHIP STACKS OF 75BB OR HIGHER. THIS LETS ME FIND THE WEAKEST TABLES WITH THE BIGGEST STACKS. I DO NOT PRACTICE SITTING TO THE WEAK PLAYES LEFT. PLAYERS COME AND GO SO FAST AND SOME ARE SO WEAK THAT ONE CAN STILL TAKE THE WEAK PLAYERS MONEY EVEN BEING OUT OF POSITION.

3. DURING PLAY I USE POKEACEHUD. IN MY OPINION THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST TOOLS OUT THERE. THE STATS I HAVE UP ON THE PLAYERS ARE VPIP, PFR, AF, HANDS, AND FOLD TO CONTINUATION BET. THE FOLD TO C-BET IS BIGGER THAN MOST PEOPLE THINK. IF YOU HAVE A VILLAIN WHO ONLY FOLDS TO A C-BET 50% OF THE THE TIME AND YOU MISS THE FLOP IT MAKES LITTLE SENSE TO C-BE THIS PLAYER AS HE WILL BE CALLING YOU WITH ANY DRAW, ANY PAIR, AND ANY OVERS. USE THIS IN REVERSE AND IF YOU HIT YOUR HAND THIS GUY CAN NOT AND WILL NOT FOLD! THE FOLD TO C-BET IS A GOOD STAT TO HAVE UP! AS FOR IT RUNNING SMOOTHLY ON 4 TABLES; I HAVE A 21" MONITOR WITH NO OVERLAP. IT IS REALLY EASY TO WATCH THE ACTION AND POKERACEHUD RUNS REALLY SMOOTH.
